Web Marketing
Tourism Saskatchewan’s major online marketing activities are based around our core consumer website, www.sasktourism.com. Launched in January 2008, this easy-to-navigate site has a modern design which allows Tourism Saskatchewan to market effectively online through the use of striking images and compelling copy. Details of member businesses and events can easily be found through intuitive searching and mapping functions.
Other current activities include a monthly online newsletter, SaskSecrets, which boasts over 33,000 subscribers and helps drive traffic to the main website. Also driving traffic is a successful pay-per-click advertising program and selected banner ad projects.
Micro-sites:
Currently, there is one micro-site completed - www.fishing-in-saskatchewan.com - which is completely dedicated to fishing in Saskatchewan. This site features fishing packages, operators, tips, stories, photos, videos, and much more. A strong component of this site is to encourage user-generated content, a feature that continues to grow more popular with time.
We have also designed a new website to support our print marketing efforts, mainly in Alberta. This site, www.2escape.com, features Tourism Saskatchewan's new Woods & Water video, promotes our Explore Saskatchewan Contest and focuses on a number of vacation ideas and packages. A second website, www.exploresaskatchewan.com, was also created to promote Tourism Awareness Week in Saskatchewan, plus feature the promotional video and Explore Saskatchewan Contest.
Mobile Marketing & Website:
In early 2010, we launched a new mobile website, www.2sk.ca. This site is designed specifically for hand-held devices, to provide instant information to travelers who are on the road. For the many thousands of travelers passing through the province each year, there is information on attractions on and near the main pass-through routes, Trans-Canada Highways #1 and #16. Future versions of the site will include more information, images and video to help bolster this unique intercept marketing initiative. Click here or see the PDF document below for more information.
Social Media Marketing:
Since 2009, Tourism Saskatchewan has become more and more active in the world of Social Media. This began with the creation of Facebook and Twitter pages, and a stronger focus on growing our inventory of videos on YouTube. Here is a snap shot of our work in the area of Social Media to date:
• Created Facebook and Twitter accounts in August 2009
• 6,100 Facebook Fans and over 2,000 Twitter Followers
• Interaction/engagement encouraged - more than 550 photos posted by Facebook followers.
• Summer Road Trip returned. Will continue Road Trip theme throughout year for each season.
• YouTube Channel hosts more than 100 videos. This fiscal recorded more than 88,000 video views, for a total of 109,000 views since May 2009.
• Hundreds of photos on Picasa.
