Social Media
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube... And the list goes on...
Since 2009, Tourism Saskatchewan has become more and more active in the world of Social Media. This began with the creation of Facebook and Twitter pages, and a stronger focus on growing our inventory of videos on YouTube. Here is a snap shot of our work in the area of Social Media:
• Created Facebook and Twitter accounts in August 2009
• Over 6,100 Facebook Fans on our Tourism Saskatchewan page, over 1,000 Fans on our Fishing Facebook page, and over 2,000 Twitter Followers
• Interaction/engagement encouraged - more than 550 photos posted by Facebook followers.
• Summer, Autumn and Winter Road Trips, plus online coverage of Agribition 2010.
• YouTube Channel hosts more than 100 videos. This fiscal recorded more than 88,000 video views, for a total of 109,000 total views since May 2009.
• Hundreds of photos on Picasa.
Social Media Projects to come:
• Social Media Hub: A home to all things Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Videos, Bogs, Vlogs, etc.

Is your organization on Facebook? If so, let us know!

The world of social media is all around us. From Facebook to Twitter and YouTube, businesses are discovering that they need to be found online in one or more of these ways. Social media pages are a great way to engage and keep in contact with people who are interested in your organization or business in real time.
"Pages" on Facebook, accounts on Twitter, and channels on YouTube are all quite simple to create. The challenge is to attract people to join your social media page. You need to constantly create and monitor the content on your pages, but, even more importantly, you can build your numbers by joining forces with other like-organizations.
Currently, more than 6,100 people "like" Tourism Saskatchewan’s Facebook page, about 1,300 people like our new Fishing in Saskatchewan Facebook page, about 2,000 people follow us on Twitter, and our YouTube videos have received more than 109,000 views.
On Facebook, there is an area to post links to other pages that Tourism Saskatchewan "Likes", which shows that you endorse the content on that page. We are happy to "Like" our partners’ pages and encourage you to do the same with Tourism Saskatchewan’s pages. If your organization has a Facebook page, Twitter account or YouTube channel, please let us know so we can link to you. There is always more strength in numbers!
