National Award Recipient

Grenfell, Saskatchewan; Communities in Bloom
The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) is pleased to congratulate the Town of Grenfell, Saskatchewan for being declared a National Winner in the 2009 Communities in Bloom program.
The award was presented on October 3, 2009, in the City of Vaughan, Ontario, during the 15th Edition of the Communities in Bloom National Awards Ceremony. The event concluded three days of seminars where municipal leaders, elected officials, parks and grounds professionals, dedicated community volunteers and related organizations met to share their strategies to enhance the communities in which they live.
The community of Grenfell joins a celebrated list of honoured municipalities from Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland and Japan; all receiving accolades for their efforts in providing an improved quality of life through sustainable community development initiatives.
Recognition was also given to the municipalities of Indian Head, Kindersley and Weyburn, Saskatchewan for their national involvement with the Communities in Bloom program.
Within the actual context of global warming and environmental challenges, all participating municipalities can rightfully and proudly state that, through the efforts of all those involved in their communities, they are contributing to the solutions. Communities in Bloom is an organization and ideal committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement and the challenge of a national program.
