Tourism Industry Review
A review of the Saskatchewan Tourism System was initiated by the Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport in September, 2009 and is scheduled to be completed in March, 2010. This initiative is being led by a consulting team from Western Management Consultants (Kent Stewart) and the Tourism Company (Jill Vandal).
The following is a letter from the consulting team thanking the tourism industry for their input, along with a link to the consultation summary document.

RE: Industry Consultation Summary Report
We would like to thank Tourism Saskatchewan for posting this document summarizing what we heard from the industry over the course of our consultations in the Fall of 2009. This information is an important consideration in the review process.
Thanks to all of the organizations that made time for us on their Board agendas, and those tourism organizations that included us in their AGMs so that we could speak directly with their members. Thanks as well to tourism stakeholders who helped to organize or attend meetings in Regina and Saskatoon and to others who gave us their insights in various phone interviews and meetings.
We have recorded our understanding of the issues and opportunities as you identified them in this consultation summary document. A key message from many was that it is time for action. We received this message clearly, and we continue to work with government and industry leadership to complete this review in a timely fashion.
Thank you again to the Saskatchewan Tourism Industry for your investment in this review.
Jill Vandal and Kent Stewart
The following is a letter from the consulting team inviting industry stakeholders to peruse a discussion paper by Anna Pollock, DestiCorp UK, speculating on the future of Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs).

RE: Speculation on the Future of Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs): A Conceptual Discussion Paper
Anna Pollock, DestiCorp UK
As one element of the Tourism System Review, we asked our colleague, visionary tourism strategist and speaker Anna Pollock, DestiCorp UK, to consider the future of Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs). Anna has prepared a discussion paper on the roles of the provincial DMOs and the regional DMOs operating in any jurisdiction. We believe that her insightful comments provide food for thought for our industry.
Again, we thank Tourism Saskatchewan for posting this document for the industry’s perusal on www.industrymatters.com.
Anna Pollock wishes to be clear that her ideas on DMOs are for discussion and were prepared to stimulate further exploration. She would welcome conversations with organizations and individuals on the future of tourism and DMOs.
Ms. Pollock is working in the southern hemisphere over the next three weeks but can be reached at anna.pollock@btconnect.com. Additional information on this topic can be accessed by reading her blog www.desticorp.typepad.com.
If this Discussion Paper generates any thinking on the Review that you would like to share with us, please contact us directly at jill.vandal@tourismco.com and kstewart@wmc.ca.
Thank you again to the Saskatchewan tourism industry.
Jill Vandal and Kent Stewart
