Quality Assurance Program (QAP)
Saskatchewan’s tourism sector is launching a voluntary, industry-developed Quality Assurance Program (QAP). Designed at the request of the tourism industry, the program gives consumers a recognizable quality brand for their Saskatchewan experiences.
The Quality Assurance Program (QAP) is an industry-defined process for recognizing businesses and organizations committed to delivering quality visitor experiences with integrity.
The 3 Pillars
The QAP is based on three pillars. These pillars expand quality assurance beyond a simple accreditation program to create a culture of quality in Saskatchewan.
Define –The QAP is a set of quality standards defined and developed by industry. The comprehensive program will ultimately outline criteria for 14 distinct industry sectors.
Share – The QAP provides tourism businesses and organizations with knowledge and support on building a culture of quality with their own business, as well as with others in their industry and the tourism sector overall.
Recognize – The QAP provides recognition for participating businesses and organizations through the profile of the QAP brand and by offering exclusive program and service value benefits for those accredited.
Tourism businesses that meet industry-defined criteria will be able to display the quality assurance logo.
Why Now?
The tourism industry has changed. Consumers around the world can (and do) access information and share their experiences about Saskatchewan via a growing variety of travel websites.
Most other provinces already have QAPs in place. It is something consumers expect and respect. The QAP shows consumers that Saskatchewan is committed to providing a tourist product of the highest quality.
It’s Up to You
The QAP is not regulatory or mandatory. It is entirely voluntary.
Quality assured businesses have access to exclusive benefits that recognize, appreciate and encourage their commitment to a culture of quality. The highest profile benefit is the QAP accreditation and logo.
2013 will be the official launch of Saskatchewan tourism industry’s QAP. We’ll start with 4 program streams:
· Hotels, Motels & Fixed Roof Accommodation
· Professionally Managed Museums
· Private & Municipal Campgrounds
· Outdoor Adventure Attractions
