Dana Soonias

Elected at-large

Dana Soonias was born and raised on the Red Pheasant Cree Nation near Battleford, Saskatchewan He studied business administration at the University of Saskatchewan and is currently completing his commerce degree.  He earned his Certified Aboriginal Financial Managers (CAFM) designation (equivalent to a 4th level Certified General Accountants designation with AFOA Canada).  Dana has held positions with Toronto Dominion Bank, the Canada Revenue Agency, and the Saskatchewan Indian Equity Foundation and SaskCentral Credit Union, where he was Manager of Aboriginal Business Development. In 2009, he was named Chief Executive Officer of Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon.  

Involved with numerous local, provincial and national organizations and committees, Dana is  President of the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Saskatchewan; serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the national Board of AFOA Canada; is a committee member of the First Nation & Metis Relation’s Investment Fund for the Province of Saskatchewan; and a member of the St. Paul’s Hospital Board of Directors.
