Fall General Meeting December 7 2011
Tourism Saskatchewan held its Fall General Business Meeting on December 7 at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Centre in Regina.
Tourism Saskatchewan’s Board of Directors, along with more than 125 industry colleagues and stakeholders, reviewed the financial results, operational highlights, and key achievements of Tourism Saskatchewan in the 2010-2011 fiscal year, and discussed the organization’s strategic objectives for the coming year. The Fall General Business Meeting presented an opportunity to reflect upon the priorities of the organization, engage tourism partners, and discuss upcoming plans and initiatives to enhance Saskatchewan’s dynamic tourism sector and to ensure its continued growth and progress.

The Fall GM also provided an opportunity to meet the five Field Representatives who have been hired throughout the province by Tourism Saskatchewan. They will serve as local a point of contact. The new Field Representatives are:
• Jacqueline Watt in the northern area (previously Marketing Coordinator for Northern Saskatchewan Tourism Region);
• Owen Einsiedler in the west central area (previously Marketing Manager for Saskatchewan West Central Tourism Region);
• Corrina Kapeller in the east central area (previously Marketing and Membership Manager for East Central Saskatchewan Tourism Region);
• Connie Ashworth in the southwest area (previously Executive Director for Saskatchewan Southwest Tourism Region); and
• Whitney Johnson in the southeast area (previously Marketing Director for Saskatchewan South East Tourism Region).
The General Business Meeting was followed by a panel session, "Embracing Change to Grow the Tourism Economy". During this panel session, three tourism leaders from across the sector discussed the changes that have been made to the Tourism Funding Program Model and shared their insights on the advantages/opportunities moving forward. A Question and Answer period concluded the session. Panelists included: Brendan Manz (Watrous Manitou Marketing Group); Cheryl Chase (Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort); and Peter Kingsmill (Shearwater River Cruises). Gord Vaadeland (Sturgeon River Ranch), was unable to attend. Jack Walton, Chair of the Funding Program Review Committee, and Randy Goulden, Chair of the Transition Advisory Team, moderated the session. Members from the Tourism Funding Program Review Committee and the Transition Advisory Team were also available to answer questions from the floor.
