Carey Baker

Mr. Carey Baker originates from a ranching background at Denzil.  He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he received his Bachelor of Arts honours in regional and urban development, and a certificate in human geography.  He received his certificate in local government administration from the University of Regina, and certificate in economic development from the University of Waterloo.  The Economic Developer's Association of Canada has certified him as an Ec.D.

Carey has an employment background in the tourism industry, urban planning, public works, and oilfield servicing and construction.  He is well experienced in commercial and residential subdivision development and planning, business counselling, special event coordination, policy development, funding application, and finance and administration.  Carey has been involved with many community-based committees and organizations including Western Canadian Softball Championships, Under 20 International Pre-tournament Hockey, Centennial Committees, Sports Wall of Fame Committees, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, and Folkfest Committee.  For the past decade, Carey has been involved with the West Central Tourism Region, including three years as board Chair, the Saskatchewan Economic Developer's Association Board for the past year, and Tourism Saskatchewan’s Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010, serving as Chair for the last two years.

Carey has been employed for the past 11 years as the Director of Economic Development for the Town of Unity.  He resides with his wife and children at Unity.
