Ian McGilp

Mr. Ian McGilp spent 13 years in retail and commercial banking in various communities in Saskatchewan before joining the Tourism (Industry) Development Branch in 1984.  Over the past 25 years, he has played a lead role in planning and developing capital projects throughout the province, including projects at Manitou Beach, Eastend, Rosthern, Duck Lake, the Battlefords, Missinipe, and various Provincial Parks.  He has facilitated the establishment of five regional tourism associations and several tourism sector associations.  Ian has represented the industry in crown land use planning processes, covering areas such the Pasquia-Porcupine Forests and the Manitou Sand Hills.  He served as Co-Chair of the Minister’s Forest Policy Advisory Committee for six years, and currently serves on the Minister’s Wildlife Advisory Committee.  Ian has also been instrumental in preparation of the Lake Diefenbaker Tourism Destination Area Plan, the interprovincial 1885-2010 Northwest Rebellion/Resistance initiative, and community tourism planning throughout Saskatchewan.
