John Treleaven

Mr. John Treleaven began his career in the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service in 1968.  Postings included Sao Paulo, San Juan, Puerto Rico, London, San Jose, Costa Rica, Senior Trade Commissioner in Hong Kong, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) in Tokyo, and Ambassador to the Philippines.  In Ottawa, he served in a variety of senior positions in foreign affairs and international trade, and an assignment in the Privy Council Office.

In August 2005, John established The Treleaven Consulting Group Ltd., located in Sidney, British Columbia.  The company is presently working on international trade issues and opportunities with private and public sector clients in Regina, Vancouver, San Francisco, Geneva, and Singapore.  Prior to moving to Sidney, John was based in Regina where, for five years from 2000, he was President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP).

John is recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.  He has an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities from the University of Baguio in the Philippines.  In April of 2009, Global Vision named him the first recipient of their Hearts and Mind Award.
